(230611) -- ALBAY, June 11, 2023 (Xinhua) -- Glowing lava flows from the crater of Mayon volcano as it erupts in Albay Province, the Philippines, June 11, 2023. The Philippine authorities on Friday evacuated people from the 6 km radius danger zone around the erupting Mayon Volcano in Albay province, approximately 500 km southeast of the capital Manila. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the volcano began erupting on Thursday, warning of a "potential explosive activity within weeks or even days." Mayon is the Philippines' most active volcano. It last erupted in January 2018, resulting in evacuation of more than 23,000 people from nine cities and municipalities. (Str/Xinhua)
