The Type 056 Corvette is a new-generation multi-purpose light frigate launched by the PLA Navy in 2012. In recent years, some Type 056 frigates have been refit to remove anti-ship missile launchers, install LED screens and add directional sonic launchers, and become patrol ships of the China Coast Guard.
