Egypt's Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir issued a decision on Saturday to continue banning the export of medical oxygen for a year, starting from mid-July.
According to the ban, medical oxygen could only be exported with the approval of the minister of health and population and the minister of trade and industry.
The minister explained that the decision comes within the framework of the country's comprehensive plan to protect citizens and provide hospitals and medical institutions with the oxygen necessary for medical services.
The decision was originally taken by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in July 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
