Sobibor was a German Nazi extermination camp located in German-occupied Poland, it served the sole purpose of murdering Jews. The majority of prisoners were gassed upon arrival, and few survived more than a few months. Between 170,000 to 250,000 people were killed at Sobibor, making it the fourth-deadliest Nazi camp. A prisoner revolt on 14 October 1943 led to the camp's closure, with approximately 300 prisoners managing to escape, of whom around 60 survived the war. The Nazis demolished most of the camp to conceal their atrocities from the advancing Red Army. (Photo by Artur Widak/NurPhoto)
