The areas evacuated on Wednesday morning were small villages, including Arrate, Chivisaya, Media Montana, Ajafona and Las Lagunetas, according to BBC. The President of the Canary Islands Fernando Clavijo said that the fire broke out just before midnight on Tuesday is burning with "a lot of force." He added that putting out the flames would be "complicated" due to the rugged terrain between the small towns of Arafo and Candelaria in the north-east of the island. The mayor of Candelaria, Maria Concepcion Brito, warned that despite the "worst situation is in the mountainside," there is a risk that the fire will spread to other municipalities and warned that it
