Broken pieces of a monument dedicated to the soldiers who fell in WWI and the War of Independence

23.08.2023, Ambla. In April, a soviet monument was removed from the park in front of the Ambla municipal hall. Today, the field work specialists of the Estonian War Museum carried out excavations in the park to determine the number of people buried in the mass grave and discovered a large broken monument of the War of Independence. The monument that was dedicated to the soldiers from the Ambla parish who fell in the War of Independence and also in the First World War was opened in 1925. During the Soviet era, probably in 1949, the monument was destroyed and used as a foundation for the Soviet moument. Photo: Dmitri Kotjuh / Järva Teataja
