The head priest of the Pattini Devalaya temple rides on a bull carrying the deity ornaments of Goddess Pattini during The annual 'Gonpita Perahera' or procession at Pattini DevalayaTemple in Navagamuwa, 20 km from Colombo, On the 27th of August 2023. The 'Gonpita Perahera' is held in August each year. This traditional ceremony has been conducted for the past 1500 years in honor of Goddess Pattini, to invoke blessings on the village.
