90-year-old adventure skier Miura begins climbing Mt. Fuji
Ninety-year-old Japanese adventure skier Yuichiro Miura is seated in a special wheelchair for mountain use as he begins his ascent of the 3,776-meter Mt. Fuji from the fifth station on the Shizuoka Prefecture side on Aug. 29, 2023. Miura, who skied down the highest mountain in Japan with a parachute in 1966, reached the peak of Mt. Everest three times as a senior at the age of 70, 75 and 80.
