Blue Moon
On August 30, the Moon is closest to Earth this year. The Moon takes the name ''Blue Moon'' because this particular full moon is the second to occur in August, the first having been on August 1. The Full Moon is called ''Super'' since it is at its perigee, one of the closest points in its orbit, and looks brighter and bigger in comparison to the other full moons. Around 9.30 pm in Indian time, the Moon arrived at Perigee, which was the closest point in its orbit relative to Earth, at a distance of around 357,190km away. ''Blue Moon'' is seen through the gaps in the branch of the tree at Tehatta, West Bengal; India on 30/08/2023. (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)
