Torrential Rain Causes Major Flooding - Spain
Damage caused by the DANA, on September 3, 2023, in Santa Barbara, Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. The DANA, which arrived on September 1, has brought abundant rainfall to much of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a special warning for the expected rains and storms. Today, the AEMET notes that the DANA, being centered to the southeast of the Peninsula, will cause a humid and intense easterly flow to be established, providing moisture from the sea and favoring abundant rainfall. In addition to storms, the AEMET warns of wind risk in the provinces of central and eastern peninsular, and the Balearic Islands, and a drop in temperatures that make an autumnal atmosphere prevail.
