Pelion Mountain Hit By Record Rain And Flash Floods

Pelion Mountain hit by the fierce rainstorm causing damage or vanishing the road network and houses collapsing in landslides while trapped people are being evacuated by helicopters and boats. The aftermath of Storm Daniel in Portaria, Pelion Mountain, in central Greece showing the damage from the floods while roads are still covered by floodwater and mud and heavy machinery and bulldozers are cleaning the area, while fire service is pumping water. The city of Volos near Pelion witnessed flooded and mud-covered cars and other vehicles still in the water on the morning of 7 September 2023 after record rainfall causing deadly flash floods. 7 Casualties have been reported until the 8th of September, in addition to missing people while cities, villages and areas are without running water and electricity. In Pelion mountain region, Volos city and Skiathos island restriction in traffic was imposed. The floods hit also areas in Trikala, Karditsa and Larisa.
