The historical Canal Race Amsterdam, which dated back to 1951, took place in the heart of Amsterdam on Saturday.
It is a sloop race of some 23 kilometers on the canals of Amsterdam. This unique race through the Amsterdam city center makes its annual comeback to the city every Oct.
With some 70 bridges to cross, as well as excursion boats and sloops to dodge, this sporting event is a demanding race.
The annual event celebrates the city's maritime heritage and offers a unique opportunity to showcase Amsterdam's famous waterways.
The route showcases Amsterdam's rich history and takes participants past landmarks such as the Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum and the Skinny Bridge.
