Trump-Backed Jim Jordan Chosen As Speaker Nominee - Washington
United States Representative Patrick McHenry (Republican of North Carolina) talks to press in the midst of another GOP caucus in the Longworth House Office Building on Friday, October 13, 2023 in Washington, DC, USA. The meeting is set to determine their new nomination for Speaker after United States House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (Republican of Louisiana) dropped out of the race last night. Currently, the only person running is United States Representative Jim Jordan (Republican of Ohio), but many think he doesn’t have the votes. Kevin McCarthy (Republican of California) was recently ousted from the Speakership. McHenry is currently serving as the Speaker pro tempore. Photo by Annabelle Gordon/CNP/ABACAPRESS.COM
