Trump-Backed Jim Jordan Chosen As Speaker Nominee - Washington
United States Representative Austin Scott (Republican of Georgia) talks to press following a GOP caucus meeting in the Longworth House Office Building on Friday, October 13, 2023, where he lost out in the race for the GOP nomination for Speaker of the House against United States Representative Jim Jordan (Republican of Ohio). Scott entered the race just a few hours before they took a vote for the nomination, and received 81 votes. Jordan received 124, but needs 217 to win the Speakership.
