Cutting And Selling Cempasuchil Flower On The Eve Of Day Of The Dead In Mexico
Lorenzo Valdes, local producer of Cempasuchil Flowers in the Tlahuac mayor's office in the southern end of Mexico City, prior to cutting said flowers for sale on the eve of the Day of the Dead in Mexico.
With machete in hand, he carefully cuts the Cempasuchil Flowers from each zurco and verifies that they are free of predatory insects such as the mayate or beetle, better known in Mexico as jicotillo. Each bunch has an average cost of $20 Mexican pesos (approximately $1). (Photo by Gerardo Vieyra/NurPhoto)
