Princess Leonor swears today the Constitution before the Cortes Generales on the occasion of her 18th birthday, just as her father did when she came of age. This solemn act has a strong symbolic character. In it the continuity of the parliamentary monarchy is staged and after it, Princess Leonor will become the full heir to the throne. In accordance with the provisions of the Magna Carta, in case of death, incapacity or abdication of Felipe VI, Princess Leonor could succeed him immediately.
