According to the survey, which was published by independent NGO the Climate Council on Wednesday, 71 percent of Australians have taken steps to reduce their driving expenses in response to petrol prices, including driving less, cutting back on vehicle maintenance and avoiding taking holidays using their car. The Australian Bureau of Statistics in October identified rising automotive fuel costs as the biggest driver of inflation, with prices rising by an average of 7.2 percent in the third quarter of 2023 between July and September.
