A dog-day cicada (Tibicen canicularis) is clinging to its nymphal exoskeleton after emerging from it in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on August 29, 2023. Before becoming an adult and shedding its skin, a cicada tries to find a plant to attach itself to with its claws.
