Toxic Iron In Water In India
Iron Is The Most Common Contaminant In Drinking Water In India And Is Found In Groundwater In Almost All States. It's Found In Groundwater In 301 Districts Across 29 States. In Some Parts Of These Districts, The Iron Content Is More Than 1 Mg Per Liter. The Bureau Of Indian Standards (BIS) Has Reduced The Maximum Permissible Limit For Iron Concentration In Drinking Water From 1 Mg/L To 0.3 Mg/L. Iron Can Give Water A Metallic Taste And Smell And High Iron Levels Can Cause Liver Cancer, Diabetes, Cirrhosis Of The Liver, And Heart Disease. Iron Can Stain Porcelain Bathroom Fixtures, Laundry, And Dishes. When The Underground Water Is Pumped Through The Tubewell, The Iron Water Comes Out, The Water Has Turned Orange Due To The Iron If The Water Is Kept Still For Some Time, And The Iron Is Seen To Accumulate In The Bottom At Tehatta, West Bengal, India On 18/11/2023.
