STORYLINE:
King Abdullah II of Jordan on Thursday urged the global community to push for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and protection of civilians during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in the Jordanian city of Aqaba.
At the meeting, the king said the continuation of the Israeli aggression on Gaza would have disastrous repercussions on the entire region, according to a statement by the Royal Hashemite Court.
Calling for immediate action to facilitate the delivery of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to the strip, King Abdullah also warned of extremist settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, as well as violations in Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
