Nipah Virus Claims 10 Lives In 2023 - Dhaka

Disease Control Branch of Bangladesh Health Directorate has issued an urgent health message about Nipah. According to the message of the Department of Health, raw date juice is mixed with bat excrement and saliva, and the excrement and saliva contain Nipah virus. As a result, people can get infected with Nipah virus if they drink the raw juice of dates. At present, besides adults and children are more affected by Nipah virus. More than 70 percent of deaths due to this disease in Bangladesh. In 2022-23, 10 died of 14 people infected with this disease in Bangladesh. If survive infected with this virus, disability appears.
