Farmers Protest In Toulouse

Farmers are protesting in the streets of Toulouse, France, on January 16, 2024. Members of the FDSEA and JA farmers unions are calling on the government for assistance and have brought their tractors to block the streets. They are protesting against the increase in water usage fees, taxes on biocides, and the implementation of the EGAlim law, while demanding that the French government reduce bureaucratic obstacles. During the protest, farmers are pouring manure and waste at the entrance of buildings housing several agriculture-related agencies, including Ademe, the Adour-Garonne water agency, and the OFB (French Office for Biodiversity). Some farmers are attempting to break into the building but are being stopped by Gendarmerie and Police officers. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
