Farmers Protest In Toulouse

Farmers are throwing manure at the entrance of the ecological transition center, which houses Ademe, the Adour-Garonne water agency, and OFB, in Toulouse, France, on January 16, 2024. The FDSEA and JA farmers' unions have called their members to protest in Toulouse, as well as in other parts of France, urging the government for assistance. The farmers are coming with their tractors and are blocking the streets during the protest. They are protesting against the rise in water usage fees, taxes on biocides, and the application of the EGAlim law. They are also demanding that the French government ''cut the red tape.'' Farmers are pouring manure and waste at the entrance of the building, which is associated with several agencies related to agriculture: Ademe (for efficient energy use), the Adour-Garonne water agency, and the OFB (French Office for Biodiversity). Some farmers have attempted to break into the building but were stopped by Gendarmerie and Police officers. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
