Farmers Protest In Toulouse
A gendarme mobile is standing guard at the building after protesters attempted to break in. FDSEA and JA farmers' unions have called their members to protest in Toulouse, as well as elsewhere in France, calling on the government for help. Farmers are coming with their tractors to protest. They are blocking the streets during the protest. They are protesting against the rise of water usage fees, taxes on biocides, and the application of the EGAlim law. They also want the French government to ''cut the red tape.'' Farmers are pouring manure and waste at the entrance of the building, which houses several agencies related to agriculture: Ademe (for efficient energy use), Adour-Garonne water agency, and the OFB (French Office for Biodiversity). Some farmers have tried to break into the building, only to be stopped by Gendarmerie and Police officers. The protest is taking place in Toulouse, France, on January 16, 2024.
