Farmers Protest In Toulouse
Farmers are protesting in Toulouse, France, on January 16, 2024. Directed by a policeman, they are demonstrating against the rise in water usage fees, taxes on biocides, and the application of the EGAlim law, while calling on the government for assistance. The FDSEA and JA farmers' unions have mobilized their members to take action, bringing their tractors and blocking the streets. They are demanding that the French government reduce bureaucratic obstacles. During the protest, farmers are pouring manure and waste at the entrances of buildings housing several agriculture-related agencies, including Ademe, the Adour-Garonne water agency, and the OFB (French Office for Biodiversity). Some protesters are attempting to break into a building but are being stopped by Gendarmerie and Police officers. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
