Farmers Protest In Toulouse
Farmers are protesting in Toulouse, France, on January 16, 2024, with a board that reads ''H2O equals Life.'' The FDSEA and JA farmers unions have called their members to demonstrate, asking the government for assistance. They are bringing their tractors and blocking the streets as part of the protest. The farmers are protesting against the increase in water usage fees, taxes on biocides, and the implementation of the EGAlim law, and they are urging the French government to ''cut the red tape.'' They are pouring manure and waste at the entrance of buildings housing several agriculture-related agencies: Ademe (for efficient energy use), the Adour-Garonne water agency, and the OFB (French Office for Biodiversity). Some farmers are attempting to break into the building but are being stopped by Gendarmerie and Police officers. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
