Farmers Protest In Toulouse
Farmers are protesting in Toulouse, France, on January 16, 2024, with tractors bearing placards that read 'Macron still an effort, soon all farmers will be dead'. The FDSEA and JA farmers unions have called their members to demonstrate, urging the government for assistance. They are blocking the streets with their tractors and protesting against the rise in water usage fees, taxes on biocides, and the application of the EGAlim law, while demanding that the French government ''cut the red tape''. During the protest, farmers are pouring manure and waste at the entrance of buildings housing several agriculture-related agencies: Ademe (for efficient energy use), the Adour-Garonne water agency, and the OFB (French Office for Biodiversity). Some farmers are attempting to break into the building but are being stopped by Gendarmerie and Police officers. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
