Indonesia Politics
Hundreds of flags for political parties are being installed along the street in Jakarta, Indonesia, on January 23, 2024. The world's third-largest democracy is preparing to hold its presidential elections on February 14, which is shaping up to be a three-way race between a former special forces general and two former governors. Meanwhile, more than 60 countries, representing half the world's population, are going to the polls in 2024, with an estimated 4 billion people voting in presidential, legislative, and local elections. This number will not be reached again until 2048, in what could be the greatest rolling spectacle of democracy in human history. (Photo by Afriadi Hikmal/NurPhoto)
