The High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Monday held a hearing for the winding-up petition against China Evergrande Group, ordering the company to liquidate.
Evergrande, with debts exceeding 300 billion U.S. dollars, had previously faced a liquidation application from its creditors and was preparing a new debt restructuring plan.
The liquidation petition hearing resumed in the High Court on Monday, where Judge Linda Chan Ching-fan pointed out that Evergrande's debt restructuring plan lacked progress and that the company's assets were insufficient to cover its debts.
