Polish President Pardons Imprisoned Politicians

Police are seen outside parliament anticipating the arrival of two formerly imprisoned politicians in Warsaw, Poland on 25 January, 2024. On Thursday two former politicians, Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Wasik were expected to try to enter parliament despite a ban by the chamber's speaker. The two men had been pardoned from jail the night before by President Andrzej Duda, a close ally of the Law and Justice party. Both men have been convicted of abuse of power.
