Protest Against Changes In TVP In Krakow
Protesters are gathering near Wawel Castle in Krakow, Poland, on January 18, 2024, to voice their opposition to changes in public media and to show support for Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Wasik. The new coalition government's reforms in the public media have sparked demonstrations by PiS supporters. The occupation of the public television's headquarters by PiS party politicians and the liquidation of TVP have been prompted by personnel changes and the president's veto of a budget-related bill. In a show of solidarity with Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Wasik, who have been detained by the police, the protesters organized a march from Wawel to the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany.
