Strike And Protests For Public Schooling
Students are holding a banner that reads, 'Money for universities and high schools, not for cops and the military.' Teachers, professors, and students are on strike and are taking to the streets in Toulouse, France, on February 1, 2024, to protest against the new Minister of National Education, Amelie Oudea-Castera, and the lack of resources for public schools. The minister is embroiled in scandals, as she enrolled her children in a private Catholic school that separates students by gender, and one of her children bypassed the mandatory 'Parcours Sup' process required for admission to schools, colleges, or universities. Protesters are calling for her resignation, especially after she authorized public funding for the private Stanislas school, where her children attend. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
