Protest Against The Self-nomination Of The City Of Trino Vercellese To Host The National Nuclear Waste Site
Hundreds of people are protesting in Trino Vercellese, Italy, on February 3, 2024, against the municipality's attempt to nominate itself as a potential location for the national nuclear waste disposal site. Although Trino Vercellese houses one of the four former Italian nuclear power plants, it was not included in the Italian government's list of potential locations. However, there is now a 30-day period during which municipalities not listed in the National Charter of Eligible Areas (Cnai) can present their self-nomination to host the depot.
