The Two Freed MPs Not Allowed Into The Polish Parliament

Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the leader of the Law and Justice party, is standing in front of the Polish Parliament in Warsaw, Poland, on February 7, 2024. Flanked by prominent Law and Justice MPs, Mariusz Kaminski and Michal Wasik, former Interior Ministers, are trying to enter Parliament despite having lost their parliamentary seats following a two-year jail sentence for abuse of power in 2007 when they led the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBA). Under Polish law, individuals with a final conviction are prohibited from sitting in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, even if they have been pardoned by the President of the Republic of Poland. Mariusz Kaminski and Michal Wasik have left prison after being pardoned for the second time by President Andrzej Duda. (Photo by Andrzej Iwanczuk/NurPhoto)
