President Of Germany Is Guided In Old Nicosia

They are visiting the barricades that separate the Greek and Turkish sides of the city, also known as the ''Green Line.'' Nicosia remains the last divided European capital. This visit marks the first by a German President since the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus in 1960 and the commencement of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
