Scars From The Civil War In Northern Sri Lanka
Bullet holes are riddling a building destroyed during the civil war in Mullaitivu, Jaffna, Sri Lanka. This is just one of the many reminders of the deep scars caused during the 26-year-long civil war between the Sri Lankan Army and the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam). The United Nations estimates that about 40,000 people were killed during the war. (Photo by Creative Touch Imaging Ltd./NurPhoto)
