Tawur Kesanga Ritual Ahead Nyepi Celebration

Balinese Hindus are performing worship and participating in the Tawur Kesanga ritual at Parahyangan Agung Pasundan Temple in Bekasi Regency, West Java, on March 10, 2024. During the Tawur Kesanga ritual, they are taking part in a worship and parading Ogoh-ogoh, effigies that represent demons or bad traits. These statues will be burned as a symbol of the victory of goodness. The Tawur Kesanga ritual is the final series of rituals before the Nyepi, or Balinese Day of Silence, which will be celebrated this year on March 11. (Photo by Aditya Irawan/NurPhoto)
