Maslenitsa celebration
17.03.2024, Maardu.
The tradition of Maslenitsa dates back to pagan times, when Russian folk would bid farewell to winter and welcome spring. In the Christian tradition, Maslenitsa is the last week before the onset of Great Lent. Celebrants commemorate the departure of winter by burning a straw effigy of Lady Maslenitsa."
