Protest For Better Wages And Better Public Services In Toulouse
A woman is holding a cardboard sign that reads 'Recycling is for waste, not for students' in Toulouse, France, on March 19, 2024. Unions have called for a day of strike and protest to advocate for better wages and to demand an end to what they describe as the dismantling of public services, including education and health. Nearly 2,000 people are demonstrating in a joint protest with various unions (CGT, SUD, CFTC, UNSA, etc.) against austerity and inflation, and for equal wages between men and women, as well as for environmental causes. Protests and strikes are occurring throughout France as part of a national day of action. Riot police are intervening to seize a banner created by high school students, and two arrests have been made for wearing masks. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
