The procession, which brings the streets of Canosa di Puglia to life from the early hours of Holy Saturday, is akin to a real performance. Approximately 400 women, all dressed in black with their faces covered, are participating, creating an atmosphere that is both intense and heartfelt. The Desolata, known for its organization and the large number of visitors it draws from across Apulia and beyond, is undoubtedly one of the most evocative and participatory Holy Week rites.
