The Holy Month Of Ramadan In Indonesia
Indonesian Muslims are performing night prayers on a street during the holy month of Ramadan in Bogor, West Java province, Indonesia, on March 31, 2024. The holy month of Ramadan, which is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, is believed to be the time when the first verse of the Koran was revealed during its last 10 nights. It is observed annually with night-time prayers and by abstaining from eating, drinking, and sexual acts from sunrise to sunset. Ramadan is also a time for socializing, especially in the evening after breaking the fast, with a shift of all activities to later in the day in most countries. (Photo by Adriana Adie/NurPhoto)
