Japan: Tsunami Warning Issued For Okinawa After Strong Earthquake Hits Taiwan 6
A strong earthquake struck off the coast of Taiwan, 18km south-southeast of Hualien City, on Wednesday morning, April 3.
According to USGS, it was an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) urged residents around Okinawa Island, Miyakojima Island, and Yaeyama Island to evacuate immediately, warning high waves of up to 3 meters (9.8 ft).
Naha Airport was temporarily closed. Passengers were forced to evacuate to the third floor of the building, and many flights were canceled or delayed.
