Colorful Tradition Of Ngerebeg In Bali
Balinese men with painted bodies are playing traditional instruments as they participate in the Ngerebeg tradition in Tegallalang Village, Bali, Indonesia, on April 3, 2024. Ngerebeg is a ritual aimed at driving misfortune and evil spirits out of the village. Locals believe that by conducting this ritual, their neighborhood will be protected from both physical and mythical plagues. The ritual is extremely colorful, with teenagers and children dressing up with colorful paint and decorated ornaments that resemble astral beings as they pray and march around the village.
