Muslims Celebrate Eid Al -Fitr In Indonesia
Volunteers of Kasunanan Palace, known locally as 'Abdi Dalem', are bringing the 'Gunungan', a sacrifice in the shape of a mountain, during the Grebeg Syawalan ritual as part of the Eid Al-Fitr celebration in Solo, Central Java, Indonesia, on April 11, 2024. Grebeg Syawal is an annual tradition that follows the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The ''Gunungan'' are piles of food that resemble mountains, made of vegetables, peppers, eggs, and rice cookies. After a prayer procession in the Grand Mosque, the ''Gunungan'' are being jostled by the local people. Receiving a part of the Gunungan is believed to bring good luck and blessings for the year ahead. (Photo by Agoes Rudianto/NurPhoto)
