World Earth Day
Birds are drinking pink water from a dry part of Lake Chalco-Xico in the State of Mexico. This Sunday marks World Earth Day, which the United Nations declared as World Mother Earth Day on April 22, 2009. The origin of this celebration dates back to 1970 when 20 million Americans started demonstrating for a healthy and sustainable environment. (Photo by Gerardo Vieyra/NurPhoto)
