ICJ Delivers Order On Nicaragua V Germany Case
The legal teams are talking to the court at the stand with the ICJ logo inside the courtroom before the session starts. The top United Nations court, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, is rejecting Nicaragua's request to block Germany from selling weapons to Israel. The judges have voted 15 against 1 and have rejected the request for an emergency order that would direct Germany to halt arms sales to Israel during a war against Palestinians in Gaza that Nicaragua claims could be genocidal. The court concludes that, at present, the circumstances do not require the exercise of its power to indicate provisional measures, ICJ President Nawaf Salam has written in the ruling. Outside The Peace Palace in The Hague, Netherlands, on April 30, 2024, a protest in support of Palestine and Nicaragua is being held.
