The government-funded Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) on Tuesday released the latest data from the National Homicide Monitoring Program. It revealed that there were 247 homicide victims in Australia in the 12-month period to the end of June 2023, 75 of whom were women. Of the 75 women, 34 or 45.3 percent were killed by a current or former male intimate partner, up from 26 in the previous 12 months. Overall 60 women were killed by men in 2022-23.
