Iran-Daily Life In Iran’s First Ever Nuclear Seaport City Of Bushehr
An Iranian woman is standing on a street at a bazaar in Bushehr, Iran, on April 28, 2024. The city is known for being Iran's first nuclear seaport on the northern coast of the Persian Gulf, located 1090km (677 miles) south of Tehran. The Bushehr nuclear power plant, initially contracted with the German company Siemens in 1975, faced construction delays due to the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and subsequent political sanctions. After a long hiatus, Iran signed an agreement with Russia in 2004 to complete the project. The power plant became operational and was connected to the national electricity grid in 2011, marking it as Iran's first and only active nuclear power plant. (Photo by Morteza Nikoubazl/NurPhoto)
