Iran-Daily Life In Iran’s First Ever Nuclear Seaport City Of Bushehr
An Iranian worker is cleaning a fish for a customer at a fish market in Bushehr, Iran, on April 28, 2024. Bushehr is Iran's first nuclear seaport city, located in the Bushehr province on the northern coast of the Persian Gulf, 1090km (677 miles) south of Tehran. The Bushehr nuclear power plant, initially contracted with the German company Siemens in 1975, faced construction delays due to the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and subsequent political sanctions. After an agreement with Russia in 2004, the power plant was finally operationalized and connected to the national electricity grid in 2011, marking it as Iran's first and only active nuclear power plant.
