Iran-Life And Fun Under The Shadow Of Nuclear Power Plant
An Iranian man is swinging on a beach near the Bushehr nuclear power plant on the northern coast of the Persian Gulf in Bushehr province, Iran, on April 29, 2024. The Bushehr nuclear power plant, initially contracted with the German company Siemens in 1975 to diversify energy resources and provide electricity, faced construction delays due to the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and subsequent political sanctions. After a long hiatus, Iran reached an agreement with Russia in 2004 to complete the project. The power plant, after 27 years of construction, was finally operationalized and connected to the national electricity grid in 2011, marking it as Iran's first and only active nuclear power plant.
